Fall Creek Road (FR39) is located on the west side of Wolf Creek Pass about 2 miles past the Highway 160 Scenic Overlook.  Even during exceptionally bad snow years, good snow conditions usually exist on Fall Creek Road thanks to its northern aspect and the Pagosa Nordic Club's grooming efforts.  The out-and-back route is groomed for classic and skate skis.

The road steadily climbs 900 feet in elevation over 3.35 miles, topping out 10,470 feet at the turn around point.  The high altitude combined with the consistent grade makes for an excellent workout, however, there are plenty of great views of the Continental Divide that are worth enjoying if you need to catch your breath.  The descent is rewarding, but it can be fast and you will have to negotiate about a half dozen sharp turns.
